£100m Heritage Charity Boost from Lottery

The Lovell telescope and Lincoln Cathedral are among various British Heritage sites which will be receiving funding worth almost £100m, the aim of the new boost from the National Lottery is aimed at preserving and Funding major Heritage sites across the country.

Several million will also be spent on supporting a new Railway museum and a rather unique project known as ‘Save our Sounds’ in which rare bird and animal sounds are collated and archived.

The lovell telescope which is a grade II listed building will receive just over £12,000,000 to build a new exhibition hall, Prof Bryan Cox commented that it’s  “standout icon of UK science and engineering”

The National Lottery donates substantial amounts each year from funds of it’s UK lottery sales.
